Most newsletters tend to focus on the overall market and the macro
environment. Most tend to focus on fundamental analysis instead of technical analysis. Most gravitate towards the growth and momentum school of thought, which has worked in the bull market environment, but may not in a tougher market environment. So naturally, as a contrarian, I will attempt to focus on specific issues, the technical analysis of these issues, and good value instead of just momentum. My philosophy of investing, in a few words, is to "
buy low and sell high," not " buy high and sell higher."
It is my intention to not only provide specific recommendations in this newsletter, but to provide tips and advice for the owners of technical analysis software programs. I would like to help you become a better trader and technical analyst on your own.
From my bottom-up analysis (I start by looking at and screening individual stocks), I also come up with some opinions on industry sectors
that I think should be avoided or watched. This may be helpful if you like to trade the sector funds.
I also try to feature specific stock ideas, both long and short, that the reader may want to investigate or analyze on their own. Although the contrarian, value style of investing is not in vogue these days, it's time will come (once those momentum players get hit in a bear market). For long ideas, I'm usually looking for a down-and-out stock that might look like
